Pupukea Road Rockfall Mitigation – Phase 1

(City and County of Honolulu) Significant clearing and scaling of hillside.  Installed  800′ L.F. of anchored mesh drapery above city roadway.  Installed 200′ L.F. of high impact fence at a height of 6.6′ and 600′ L.F. of high impact fence at a height of 9.9′. These fence systems included: reinforced concrete foundations, base plates, steel posts, steel ring net, chainlink mesh netting, intermediate anchor ropes, lateral anchor ropes, brake away rings, top and bottom support ropes, and ground anchors.  All potentially hazardous boulders on hillside were locked into the slope with rock dowels.  Much of hillside was further stabilized with sculpted and painted, fiber-reinforced shotcrete.
